Strong earthquake hits Indonesia's Tanimbar Islands

There are no reports yet of injuries or damage from a 7.1 magnitude earthquake that hit in Indonesia at 11:35 a.m. Monday.

LONDON — A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck 134 miles northwest of the Tanimbar Islands in Indonesia at 11:53 a.m. ET, the U.S. Geological Survey reported Monday.

No tsunami warning was issued, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said in a statement on its website.

It said the quake was recorded at a depth of 96.4 miles.

There is no word yet whether there were any injuries or damage.
