Santas wave to their public

Be it Père Noël, Father Frost, Weihnachtsmann, or Santa Claus, people around the world have many different names for the jolly, bearded man in the red suit. Here's a look at some of the best Santa appearances around the world. See gallery

Santa takes to the air

Christmas came early to the Northern beaches of Sydney as Father Christmas got in some training for his present deliveries on Dec. 18, 2013, in Sydney. While elsewhere in the world Santa may travel via a reindeer drawn sleigh and slip down the chimney, he clearly does things a little different in Australia! Complete with red suit and white beard, Santa was snapped hanging ten as he showed off his moves on a surfboard.

Santa hears Christmas wishes

Santa makes a surprise appearance

Santa (aka Merrill Hunt, 44, of Port Richey from High Rise Window Cleaning Company of Clearwater) waves a hello to Asher McCown, 11, of Lakeland, Fla. as he rappelled down the wall of All Children Hospital to wash the windows and surprise patients on December 9, 2013.

 

Father Christmas (aka Santa Claus) evolved from an ancient festival. Later, a famous author created this character, which depicts him wearing a distinctive outfit.
