Student commits suicide at school in small Oklahoma town

Police are planning to release further details at a second news conference later today.

Local police have confirmed a shooting at a middle school in Coweta, Okla., according to local news affiliate Fox23. School officials say the shooting was a suicide.

The TV station said police have secured the area around Coweta Intermediate School and informed parents to come pick up their children.

There were no immediate details on possible injuries or the circumstances surrounding the incident, but local police were preparing to hold a news conference, according to Fox23.

Coweta is 25 miles southeast of Tulsa and has a population of almost 10,000, according to Wikipedia.
