New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg reportedly encouraged Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to run for mayor in 2013 during a phone call some months ago.

The New York Times reported that three separate people have confirmed the phone call in which Bloomberg encouraged Clinton to run for mayor in 2013 rather than wait for the 2016 presidential election in which she is considered a leading candidate.

The Times also reported that sources said Clinton left little room for doubt during their discussion, saying she was not interested in seeking the mayoralty.
