Baby born in parking lot, just like dad 33 years ago

Like father, like daughter: A baby was born in an Illinois parking lot almost 33 years to the day after her dad was born, also in a parking lot.

Forgive Frank Pavlik if he's got a sense of deja vu.

The Illinois man is the proud new father of a baby girl who was born in a parking lot — just like he was 33 years ago, almost to the day.

Hannah Grace Mary Pavlik’s entry into the world came early Saturday morning — 10 days before she was due — in the parking lot of an Oswego, Ill., gas station, The Beacon News reported.

Erica Pavlik, of the Chicago suburb of Yorkville, was being driven to the hospital by her mother when her water broke, so they pulled into the gas station and called 911. With her mother's help, Erica delivered a healthy, 6-pound, 3-ounce Hannah in the front seat before paramedics arrived.

"So many things could have gone wrong, but she came right out. She wasn’t messing around. It took her a minute to cry, but after that, everything went well," Erica Pavlik told The Beacon News.

Hannah was born on the eve of her father's 33rd birthday.

Frank Pavlik entered the world on Aug. 18, 1980. He was delivered in a parking lot of the Louis Joliet Mall in Joliet, Ill., where his parents had pulled over after deciding they didn't have time to make it to the hospital, according to The Beacon News.

"It's pretty crazy. It's amazing actually. It's unbelievable that occurred," Frank Pavlik said of the father-daughter coincidence.

He told MSN News on Tuesday that he found out about the family's latest addition via a call to his workplace from his mother-in-law at the parking lot.

"She said, 'You'd better get here if you want to see your baby born,'" Pavlik said. "I left work and got up there soon as I could, and baby Hannah was already in the ambulance."

After two days at the hospital, mother and daughter are now back home. "Everybody's (doing) great," Pavlik said.
