Sue Paterno will answer questions for the first time since the Jerry Sandusky sex-abuse scandal rocked Penn State.

CONFIRMED: Katie Couric has landed an exclusive interview with Penn State football coach Joe Paterno’s widow.

According to Katie Couric’s show website, the interview will air on Couric’s nationally syndicated daytime talk show “Katie” on Monday, February 11.

Sue Paterno, the widow of Penn State football coach Joe Paterno will sit down and talk with Katie Couric in the first in-depth interview since the Jerry Sandusky sex-abuse scandal.

Joe and Sue Paterno were married for 50 years until his death in January 2012. Joe Paterno died from lung cancer, just two months after the scandal was exposed and he was fired by Penn State University.

Joe Paterno's legacy was tarnished when investigations showed that he might have known about the child abuse scandal surrounding his assistant coach and longtime colleague, Sandusky, and may have helped cover it up to protect his friend. Paterno’s family has defended his actions after he reported Sandusky to college administrators.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Sandusky was convicted of 45 counts of child sexual abuse and sentenced to a minimum of 30 years in prison in June.

The Hollywood Reporter states that Sue Paterno is set for an appearance on “Katie” on Feb. 11, when the interview is scheduled to air.

Coaching legend

Joe Paterno was head coach of the Nittany Lions from 1966 into 2011. According to the Los Angeles Times, Paterno led the team to two national titles and 409 victories, but 111 of those wins were voided by the NCAA as part of the fallout from the Sandusky scandal.
