Rumor: Government 'weather weapon' caused Oklahoma tornado

Radio host Alex Jones of The Alex Jones Show stirred controversy by saying the government "can create and steer groups of tornadoes."

The tornado was completely natural, despite Jones' claims

Radio host Alex Jones of The Alex Jones Show stirred the pot by saying the government "can create and steer groups of tornadoes," though he's not sure whether a government "weather weapon" was involved in the Oklahoma disaster that killed at least 24 people and destroyed countless homes.

Jones said that if the public saw a helicopter or aircraft "in and around the clouds, spraying and doing things," that would be a sign the government created the two-mile-wide twister. “If you saw that,” Jones said, according to Gawker and, "you better bet your bottom dollar they did this, but who knows if they did. You know, that's the thing, we don't know."

Some people sense conspiracy and suggest President Barack Obama can be blamed for the killer tornado that destroyed Moore, Okla. Take this tweet: “always seems their is a natural disaster conveniently during an Obama scandal #hmmm#HAARP,” tweeted Eric Ryan(@VandalMuzik), according to a Gawker story that bears this headline: “Why Did Obama Make Those Tornadoes? Ask the Tornado Truthers!”

Government reaction

“It is impossible for humans to create the weather we’ve had this week — including any government employees,” Keli Pirtle, a public affairs specialist for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Norman, Okla., told MSN News.
