A free online edition of "Guesthouse Games" would have featured the first couple being "drawn into the ancient Hawaiian spiritual world and into the exploration of their own deepest and most forbidden desires."
A British book publisher has backed out of its plans to release an erotic romance novel starring President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle.
U Star Novels publishes personalized fiction, in which customers choose the names of the characters in their custom editions.
The company's publicist, Pop Culture PR, announced Tuesday — a day after Obama's second inauguration — that it would release a free version of its book "Guesthouse Games" online with the first couple in the lead roles.
But a Pop Culture PR employee told MSN News on Wednesday that the free edition of the book featuring the Obamas had been canceled. The employee declined to comment on a reason for the change in plans.
Set in Obama's home state of Hawaii, "Guesthouse Games" is described by U Star as the story of a couple spending their vacation at an isolated beachfront guesthouse in Kailua. "An unexplained visit from a ghost needing help sees our couple drawn into the ancient Hawaiian spiritual world and into the exploration of their own deepest and most forbidden desires."
While attempting to uncover the mystery of the ghost, the couple discover "a number of rooms equipped to fulfill every type of erotic fantasy imaginable," according to the blurb.
The custom version of "Guesthouse Games" is still listed for sale on the U Star website at $35.95 for a paperback or $17.95 for an eBook, and customers looking for an erotic, political fan-fiction fix could still personalize it with the names of the Obamas — or the Bidens, Bushes, Clintons or any other political couple.
